lovelytheband‘s “The Conversations With Myself About You Tour” of North America, has been underway with huge success over the past two weeks, with a number of sold out shows already under their neon belts.
If you’ve been staying away from radio play recently, you’re missing out on their massive indie rock hit Broken [think “Pumped Up Kicks” by Foster The People for the vibey melody], which has already garnered over 246M Spotify plays. You can hear it on regular rotation on St Louis’ local alternative rock station, 105.7 THE POINT.
Personally, I was here to see Cannons, who was my number one favorite discovery at Lollapalooza four months earlier. At Lolla, they closed out the set with Fire for You, the hit catapulting the band into the mainstream after reaching Number 1 on the Billboard Alternative Airplay charts in January 2021. It was featured in Mindy Kaling’s “Never Have I Ever“, in episode 8, which showcases Devi and Paxton’s back and forth crushing (I’m a huge fan of the show and this track really set the vibe of a teenage love story. Listen to the song, watch the show!)
Cannons was formed by childhood friends, guitarist Ryan Clapham and keyboard/bassist Paul Davis, in 2013, before being joined by the shimmering Michelle Joy on dreamy vocals.
Opening the evening was LA based, pop singer-songwriter, Grady, who joined forces with lovelytheband earlier this year for The Idea Of You, a summery, dreamy, indie pop track.
Grady had me the moment he raced on stage, barefoot. As an Australian with a love of not wearing shoes, I immediately vibed. He was fun, sweet, poppy, engaging, genuine, and belted out so many really fun, pop tracks. I felt myself smiling the entire set, and will certainly be tracking him as his star continues to rise.
Have a look below for my images from the night, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed capturing them (I really did over indulge, and there’s so many that I just adore and really want to share them all). lovelytheband, Cannons and Grady, really were a treat for the eyes and ears.
